In this article, I will brief you on how to completely remove discord on your Windows 10 and Mac.
But before proceeding let’s know a few more information about Discord Uninstallation.
Where is Discord Installed?
While fully uninstalling discord you must know where discord is installed as we need to delete it from everywhere. Most of the applications in Windows are installed in C drive.
The exact location or path of discord is
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Discord, you can access it by typing %localappdata%\Discord in the RUN box.
What happens if you Uninstall Discord?
Uninstalling discord only removes the application from your PC or phone, not your discord account. You can still reinstall it back or access your account from any browser.
The most common cause behind uninstalling discord is to fix any kind of issue. But if you are planning to switch to any other application and want to quit discord then you need to delete your discord account.
How to Uninstall Discord Completely on Windows 10
There are 2 methods to fully uninstall discord from Windows 10. You can either manually uninstall it or use the third-party application Revo Uninstaller.
How to Remove Discord Completely (Manually)
Here we need to first uninstall the discord application and then delete all the discord files from the installation drive and Windows Registry.
Step 1:- Uninstall Discord
Press Windows + R key to open the RUN box, type appwiz.cpl, and press ok. This will bring up the Windows application wizard.
Look for the discord application, right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
Step 2:- Remove Discord from the Installation folder
Press Windows + R key to open the RUN box, type %appdata%, and click ok.
This will bring up the roaming folder. Find the discord folder, click on it once and press the Shift + delete key to delete the entire discord folder.
Open the Run box again, type %localappdata%, and click ok. Find the discord folder and press the Shift + Delete key to delete the file.
Step 3:- Remove Discord from the Registry
Press Windows + R key to open the RUN box, type Regedit, and click ok to open the Registry Editor.
Press Ctrl + F to open the search box, type discord, and click ok. Now, wait until it finds the discord folder. Right-click on the discord folder and choose delete.
Repeat the step of searching and deleting until all the discord files are deleted.
How to Remove Discord Totally (Revo Uninstaller Software)
Revo uninstaller is a third-party uninstaller app that will ease your task by uninstalling discord completely from your windows device.
Navigate to Revo’s official website and click on free download. Once download click on it to install the software.
Uninstaller wizard will now be up, search for discord click on it and then click on Uninstall from the top menu.
The confirmation box will now be up, make sure “Make a System Restore point before uninstall” is checked and then click on Continue.
Revo will now create a restore point and give you a box new once done. Choose Uninstall Discord.
Now by default uninstallation level will be set to moderate, click on scan and this will find all the discord files from the registry. Click on select all and then on Delete to start deleting discord files.
Once done with the registry Revo will find all the remaining discord files and folders. Now Click on select, delete, and then on the finish to complete the un-installation.
Restart your PC once the uninstallation is finished. This will completely remove the discord from windows 10.
How to Uninstall Discord Completely on Mac
Mac users can also fully uninstall discord by following the below instructions.
First, you need to quit discord which can be done by clicking on the discord icon from the left top menu and then choose Quit. You can also quit by right-clicking on the discord icon from the bottom taskbar.
Click on the Finder from the dock and choose Application. Find discord in the application, right-click on it and choose Move to trash.
Now moving discord in the trash just uninstalled the app, but did not delete all the discord files. So here we need to remove discord files from the entire system.
- From the menu bar, select Go and then click on “Go to folder”. In “go to folder” type ~/Library and click go.
- Now look for all the discord and related files, right-click on it and choose Move to trash.
- Do the same for other files.
